Arabic Classes

El Cajon is home to one of the largest Arabic-speaking communities in the country — and to a lot of kids and adults who speak Arabic at home but never got the chance to learn to read and write it. That’s what these classes are for.

At Shater Learning Center in Rancho San Diego, we teach Arabic reading and writing from the alphabet up — patiently, at your pace, one-on-one or in small groups. In person at our El Cajon center or online over Google Meet.

Who we teach

  • Kids and teens growing up speaking Arabic at home who want to read and write it too
  • Adults reconnecting with the language — whether you spoke it as a child or are starting fresh
  • Complete beginners — no Arabic at home required; we start from the first letter

What you learn

  • The alphabet and how letters connect and change shape by position
  • Reading real text with the harakat (vowel marks), then without them
  • Handwriting that flows naturally — not letter-by-letter drawing
  • Vocabulary and grammar built through reading, not memorization drills

Why families choose Shater for Arabic

Weekend language schools move at one speed for everyone. Our classes are one-on-one or 3–5 students at the same level, so nobody is bored and nobody is left behind. And because we’re a full learning center, siblings can be in math tutoring or English tutoring at the same time — one trip, covered.

Frequently asked questions

My child speaks Arabic but can’t read it. Is that what this is for?

Exactly. Heritage learners who speak but don’t read are the students we see most — they usually progress fast, because the vocabulary is already in their head.

Do you teach adults too?

Yes — adults at every level and every starting point, at your own pace, with scheduling that works around a job and a family.

Is it in person or online?

Both. In person at our center at 2990 Jamacha Road #156 in El Cajon, or online over Google Meet.

What does it cost?

The same transparent rates as our other tutoring — see the pricing page, or call 619-938-5383 and we’ll help you pick between one-on-one and small group.
